A diet tips question that should definitely interest you all this week
Question: I’m looking to get in shape in the next 6 months. I’m 20 years old, 6′3" at 200lbs. I’m looking to get back into Crossfit and Muay Thai. I also plan to run everyday. Morning runs. At least 3 miles a day. I have my workout scheduled and planned out. It goes as followed:
Monday: AM Run, PM Muay Thai
Tuesday: AM Run, PM Crossfit
Wednesday: AM Run, PM Muay Thai
Thursday: AM Run, PM Crossfit
Friday: AM Run, PM Muay Thai
Saturday: AM Run, PM Crossfit
Sunday: Weight Training (For muscle mass)
What I need now is the diet. What combination of foods do I need in order to gain muscle and look leaner? Can someone help me?!
How will I know how many calories my body needs?
Answer: Well first of all its easier to make fat into muscle that to do both. But I went on a diet once that helped me loose alot of weight. for breakfast u drink a cup of orange juice at around 10 a diet yogurt for lunch u can eat grilled chicken with apsolutely not oil and some salad. Than at around 3 a slice of pineapple or another yogurt or a banana, at dinner chicken and salad again and thats it as for excercise alot of cardio till u get to the weight u want and start liftin weight or u can start off with cardio and weight lifting, less weight more repetition. O and if u get tired of chicken and salad u can try cauliflower and tilapia, grilled also, as for dressing u can have it with light balsamic vinegrette or lemon, and cut down on da salt. Helped me loose alot of weight. and remember at the beginning u loose alot of water weight so dont get discouraged if u start to loose less weight over time. Oh and no bread or pasta. Lol but if u wanna gain muscle maybe u can eat carbs once a weak.
What’s this week’s diet tips question? Let’s dive straight in…
Question: Now I am 5′8 and weigh about 160 lbs, which isn’t much for a male, or even considered overweight, but I am not a muscly guy, so I would say I have an easy 10 lbs on my stomach/man boobs of beer greatness.
I will also note, that I do not want to loose any of the muscle mass I do have.
Now I have never really had to diet or work out a lot(outside of job requirements) so I am new to this.
So I was thinking a high nutrition/low carbs diet, you know, the food that sucks, and I was going going to foot march around 4-6 miles a day with about 40lbs in my back pack for the next two weeks, as well as moderate weight lifting just to keep my muscles, twice a week for just a half hour or so. Also keeping my daily calories low, 1300ish.
Would their be any weight loss outlook in that? And really, if I don’t really loose wait it does not matter, I just want to get rid of my torso fat. And also, would I Iose any muscle weight(I do not want this)?
Also note that I am a conditioned marcher so I do not need any input on that.

Answer: First: Knock off the beer. But don’t replace it with ice cream, sodas, candy, cake, etc.
What you need is a balanced diet. And exercise.
Guts come from overcarbing & lack of exercise, but replacing the carbs w/ a high protein diet will knock off some weight (with exercise), but it will come right back when you slip into old habits.
Recommended: The Zone, Barry Sears. He has a website & a dozen books. It’s all about a balanced diet that avoids the junk–fat & sugar–that is the staple of the modern American diet.
But you don’t starve yourself, there is plenty of variety. It’s just well-balanced. Like we used to eat.
It’s not a "crash"–just a healthy, gradual body readjustment.
I just love answering these diet tips questions. Here’s another:
Question: How many calories should i eat a day to lower my body fat down to about 8 or 9%? (I know im skinny, im also trying to build some muscle mass)
Every one tells me im to skinny, i have a sixpack, i just want to get them more defined. and you need 8-9% body to have a good sixpack. I STILL NEED SOME GOOD ADVICE!!
Answer: im in a foods nutrion class and u should be eating between…
Calories 2151.39 cal
Carbohydrates (55%) 1183.27 cal = 295.82 gm
Proteins (15%) 322.71 cal = 80.68 gm
Fats (30%) 645.42 cal = 71.71 gm
and…
Calories 2651.39 cal
Carbohydrates (55%) 1458.27 cal = 364.57 gm
Proteins (15%) 397.71 cal = 99.43 gm
Fats (30%) 795.42 cal = 88.37 gm
this is all for you personally, using the info you provided. Use the top one if your quite active: excersise at least 3-5 days a week of excercise and bottom one if your very active: 6-7 days a week of excercise.
makes sure you eat approximately:
3 cups dairy
2 cups fruit
2 1/2 cups vegetables
6 ounces grains
5 1/2 ounces meat and beans
per day
good luck!!
btw i’m a 16 year old girl and i think its cool that ur trying to get a six pack and stuff, but just to tell u girls hate super super mucular guys.

We’ve had a reader question come in on the subject of diet tips. Let’s take a look:
Question: I’m in 7th grade and I’m about 5′8. I am a very competitive swimmer and I have a lot of muscle mass, but not enough that it makes me look like a friggin female wrestler. I weigh about 151 lb and I’m not fat, but i could stand to lose a few pounds. I also have kind of chubby thighs, which is bad considering i’m in a swimsuit every day. Any tips on how to shed a few pounds? My mom is very against diet pills, and i kind of think that thier bad for you.
Answer: You are correct, diet pills are not good for your mind and body. In order to lose weight you must keep one simple formula in your head at all times when you drink or eat anything.
Calories Consumed must be less than or equal to Calories Burned
Now I am not a huge health nut, but I learned a couple of simple tricks to lower the amount of daily calories consumed. One, remove all sodas from your diet. This also includes diet sodas as well, because aspartame (sweet-and-low) can cause your body to retain water. Substitute sodas for low or no calorie fruit juices, or of course water being the best.
Second, do not eat a full breakfast. When you wake up, eat a nice Washington apple. It will give you just enough energy to make till lunch, which can be whatever you want.
Third, use a small plate, and only one plate for dinner. Also, make sure you eat dinner at about 6pm so that your food is nearly digested before you sleep.
Finally, the best advise is cut out fast food and junk food as much as possible.
