Diet/Exercise Tips and Advice?

This week’s question is a good one. Let’s have a look:

Question: I’m 17, female, 5′4" and 240 pounds. I’m well aware I’m not thin, lol.
For the past few months I’ve decided to take action and actually work at
losing a lot of weight. A nice dream goal would be to get down to 130 or so.

I was wondering if anyone could please give me some dieting tips, advice, recipes
or anything that would aide me in this. I’m honestly confused when it comes to dieting
and eating, so any information at all would help me a lot.

For exercising, my routine is:
Dance-Cardio warm-up for 15 minutes.
25 crunches, 25 bike twists, 25 leg raises. (repeat 3 more times in between weights).

10 lb weights I use for:
50 bicep curls
50 tricep kick-backs
50 chest flies
50 back flies

Then 30 more minutes of dance-cardio.
And then the ab workout repeated 3 more times.
A LOT of stretching afterwards. And I do yoga at least 3 times a week.

Ideas, thoughts, opinions are all appreciated. I’m trying to learn as much as I can.

Answer: Your exercise program looks great. The cardio will help burn the calories while the strength training will help maintain the muscle. I would increase the weight you use though as 50 repetitions in one set is far to high. Using a heavier weight and do only 10-15 repetitions for 3 sets would be better. You will not become "muscley" as you will be restricting calories and can not build muscle in a calorie restricted state. Your goal is to maintain the muscle you have, as lean mass is the only thing we can do to maintain or raise our metabolism.

1. Restrict your calories. 1250-1500 is suffiecient.

2. Avoid sugar and fast food.

3. Consume lean meats and vegetables (no rice, pasta or potatos). This should be the bulk of your diet.

4. Snacks should consists of fruit and nuts.

5. Its okay to treat yourself occasionally (once or twice a week). Just make sure the treat isn’t excessive. An evil 300-500 calories twice a week is completely fine.

6. Consistency. The only way to fail is to stop.

Everyone cheats and everyone has days that they don’t want to work out. Falling short is fine, we all do it. You won’t "ruin" your diet, because it’s about lifestyle management, not about an indiscretion you had one day.

Dieting Tips? Other Than Fat and Calories.?

This week’s question is a good one. Let’s have a look:

Question: Im 13 and trying to cut down and lose some weight over summer. im 5′3 and 126 lbs. it doesnt seem like much but im pretty chubby..
ive been eating activia lite yogurt for breakfast plus watermelon usually. for lunch ive been having healthy choice soup. it has 20% of my daily sodium which is 460 mg. i eat the whole can so its 920 mg. is that too much? its 40% of my daily amount, but the soup is supposed to be great for dieting and people on weight watchers and stuff. please help?
-P.S. ima guy
Answer: Hi :) One tip that is great is drinking 8 glasses of water a day! If you aren’t already doing this you will lose weight in a week! Promise! Normally your body has to fight to keep every bit of water it can. But if you drink a lot of water then it realizes that you are getting enough water and you aren’t going to die of thirst, so it releases more water and you become thinner. Plus drinking a lot of water keeps you feeling full and keeps you from snacking. The wonders of water. Water also helps hydrate your skin and makes your hair healthier. Hope this helped! :D

Question: She Mopes Around A Lot , But Occasionally She Gets Playful , She Eats Almost Every Hour ! Any Secret dieting Tips ? Please ! *She Is Only 3*
Answer: Only leave food out for her morning and night, and put the food away during the day. Don’t worry if she misses her opportunity once at first, or even doesn’t eat for a day or so. If you do it consistenly, she will learn when you put the food out and come to eat then. A food schedule will make her lose all the weight that she needs to.

Another diet tips question has come in this week. Let’s tackle it straight away:

Question: **please read**

I was signed to a record label in the beginning of the year and recorded my 1st EP. I was told my songs as well as me as an artist will not be released until I lost weight. I was 260lbs in the beginning of the year and now I am 209, so I lost 51lbs so far. I had a meeting with my manager, producers.&president of the label last night and they told me it wasn’t good enough & that I should have lost atleast 100 by now. They also told me that if I dont lose 60 by the fall they are going to shelf my music. I’ve had alot of money invested in me & im feeling guilty now that I couldnt reach the goal i was told I needed to.

I had a nutritionist & a personal trainer given to me but now I no longer have access to them. But I am not working and have all day everyday to focus on my weight loss. I have a gym membership and live right down the street from 2 tracks and one is huge with bleachers. I also have $$ to buy all the healthy food I need so $ really isnt an issue (for now atleast).

SO I reallly REALLY NEED HELP! Does anyone know how I can lose between 60-70 in the next 3 months?? I know it can be doen Iv seen it done before on tv shows and coworkers & friends of mine (but i dont talk to them anymore)

I really need to do this bc this is an oppurtunity of a lifetime that i DONT WANT TO PASS UP bc off being overweight! & of course I want & need to be healthier too!

SO does anyone know how many calories a day they eat on the biggest loser& how many hours a day they workout? I know its something like 4-7hours a day which Im willing to do.

SO if i ate 1200 cals a day all natural and healthy foods and worked out 4-7 hours a day whaddya think???

Loosing Weight/ Dieting Tips?

This week’s question is a good one. Let’s have a look:

Question: im 17 and over the last few months since ive joined college ive put on quite a bit of weight.. Im not fat but ive lost my old petite figure:\ especially as my thighs are massive and my tummy is not so slim as before, i feel so stubby and pear shaped next to my skinny friends. The thing is i now do more exercise, i walk everywhere, go the gym and do yoga but this doesnt appear to be toning me in the right places. Any tips on slimming down your figure especially my thighs:\ which are beginning to have celluite!!! And any good realistic diet books for teenagers? that i could be buy! Anything that has worked for any of you? Sorry for the long question
Thanks! X
Thanks everyone! And are there any other causing for celuite because i actually dont each much dairy :\
Answer: Eat healthy: eat 3 whole meals a day. For your meals, you want something healthy and that fills you up so that you don’t get hungry again for a long time. You need to also make healthy choices like eating whole wheat bread or whole grain bread instead of white bread and brown rice instead of white rice. Cut all junk food. They are bad for you and cause weight gain fast. Cut fast food as well! If you get hungry in between your 3 meals, eat a piece of fruit/vegetable, low-fat yogurt, skim milk, or fruit juice. THey are all good and healthy and will burn fat. As well as eating healthy, combine with exercise and you will lose the weight healthfully and easily. Diets don’t work in the long run. When you consume too little, or deprive yourself of certain foods, you are also not getting the essential nutrients. That’s why everyone gain the weight back and more in diets. Diet’s are a plan for fail. INstead, just focus on eating healthy. You will feel better, look better, and perform better. Opt for a healthy lifestyle, not a fad diet. that’s how you lose weight and keep it off for good.
For the exercise, don’t overdo yourself. Just walking, jogging for 1 hour each day will be more than enough. Rememeber to rest for 1 day of the week. Also, if 1 hour is too long for you, you can BREAK IT DOWN thorughout the day. Nobody said you have to get it all done in one shot, just do some after you wake up, some in the afternoon myabe, and sometime before or after dinner. It’s more managaeable that way. Walking, jogging, running or swimming are aerobic/cardio exercises and they burn the most calories and fat. They will make you strengthen or build your muscle and keep you burning more calories and fat.
eat healthy and exercise is the golden rule of losing weight. Good luck hun :)

Dieting Tips :) ! Please Help :D?

Another diet tips question has come in this week. Let’s tackle it straight away:

Question: Well you see, I am 152 cm tall and am 52 kgs. I am extremely fat so I am kind of on a diet. I just want a list of low calorie food. Thanks!
Oh by the way Ry Dobbs, you are so rude and dumb. PFFT, a stupid guy with nothing to do. PATHETIC, Loser!
Answer: No Carb Foods List

By no carb foods, we mean those natural or processed food items that
are zero in carbohydrate content. The doctor may prescribe a
no-carbohydrate diet only if a patient is diagnosed with underlying
health conditions related to insulin and blood glucose levels. While
there are so many foods with low carbs, you can find limited options
for no carb foods to eat. Following is a list of no carb foods:

Fluids
Water is considered as one of the healthiest carbohydrate-free
drinks. It is not only carb free, but is also essential for keeping
the body hydrated and carrying out the normal metabolic processes of
the body. Drinking about eight glasses of water decreases the
appetite, thus aiding in weight loss. Other no carb drinks include
coconut water and diet soda. Read more on low carb drinks.

Oils
Majority of the oil types, including olive oil, safflower oil and
corn oil contain zero carbs and little fat. Margarine, prepared from
vegetable oils, is another food item with no carbohydrates.
Nevertheless, it is to be borne in mind that oils are high in fats and
fatty acids. Hence, it is also important to keep a watch on the oil
consumption amount.

Dairy Products
Majority of the dairy products, excluding milk, contain no carb and
are a favorite food item for those who want to lose weight. Butter,
one of the popularly consumed dairy products, is also free of
carbohydrates. But, keep a watch on butter intake as it contains 80
percent fat.

Cheese
Many of the cheese types contain very low to no carbs. For example,
gruyere and Monterey Jack contain only about 0.1 g carbs per three
slices, while cheddar, fontina and muenster contain 0.2 g carbs per
three slices. Spread cheese on grilled or baked meat for a perfect no
carb meal.

Salad Vegetables
Salad vegetables are found to be zero in carbohydrate content. Based
on the taste preference, one can include vegetables like parsley,
lettuce, mushroom, celery, radish and spinach. Read more on low carb
vegetables.

Eggs
Eggs are another good no carb foods. Hence, they form an important
food item for no carb diet. Eggs are rich in protein, amino acid, fat,
cholesterol and tryptophan. In order to obtain maximum benefit from
eggs while following a no carb diet plan, they can be hard-boiled.

Fish
Not all fish are carbohydrate-free, however, some of them contain
very low to no carbs. Some of the fish varieties that have no
carbohydrates in them are sardines, tuna and salmon. They can be
prepared by boiling, grilling and baking to retain zero carbs.

Poultry
Poultry are rich in proteins, but free of carbohydrates. Hence, for
no carb diet menu, poultry like chicken and turkey can be included.
They are best eaten by steaming, broiling, grilling and baking, rather
than deep frying them.

Beef
Beef and most other meat varieties, before they are processed, are no
carb foods. You can bake or grill meat for no carb dieting.
Nevertheless, meat are enriched with carbs after being processed.
Thus, depending upon the meat processing method, the amount of
carbohydrate content may vary. Read more on low carb food list.

As already mentioned, carbohydrates are crucial for the body. Hence,
complete elimination of carbohydrate from the daily diet menu is
nearly impossible. One can practice a low carb diet for a particular
period, but only under medical supervision. If low or no carb diet is
followed for a prolonged period, there are chances of developing
unusual symptoms and other health complications.

Dieting Tips or Secrets ? Anything Like That Please ?

What a great diet tips question:

Question: Hi , I’m in 8th grade , and I’m not too large , but I am chubby in the belly area, and I’m starting to get these really small stretch marks on my arms, and I’d really like too lose some weight. Do you have any advice on workouts or food to eat or to avoid. For example, lately I’ve only been drinking water and Gatorade, and i heard that it’s best to cut out pop completely. Also , is it okay to low-fat bagels and cheese ? I have an exercise video called "the biggest loser workout cardio max".
I really appreciate all of your answers :)
Answer: I’m currently on a strict diet and what I’m doing is cutting out completely bread, butter, and salad dressing because those are 3 main things that are super fattening or high in carbs that people tend to over eat then never work off. Excercise. Eating for pleasure is bad. Eat on a schedule and have the meals 5 hours apart, 3 meals a day, I stopped excercising completely for 2 months and just had an eating schedule and still lost like 2 pant sizes man. Also a good way to keep off fat is to have muscle cause muscle eats fat. If you must have a sweet you should eat fruit, especially pineapple or something, cause you can eat 6 cookies, but who in the world is going to sit there and eat 6 pineapples? Also if you think you’re hungry go chug a glass of water first then see if you’re still hungry, people confuse hunger and thirst so much you can’t tell sometimes so it’s a good test. Those are my best tips for fast weight loss, and they’re healthy so once it’s off it won’t come back that easily. Good luck and TONS of water.

Any Good Dieting Tips?

What’s this week’s question? Let’s dive straight in…

Question: Hi there,

Does anyone out there have any good, healthy diet tips? I am a student, and can’t afford anything like joining a Weight Watchers programme or expensive foods etc… I also live rather far away from a gym, which is annoying but there is no way around that.

Anyway, any diet tips? Any exercises that I could do at home? I’m looking to lose weight on my stomach and thighs in particular. I’m far from fat, but I’ve put on a little weight in recent months and I am looking to get it off…

Answer: Diet is a perfect well to lose weight. I personally believe that its what you eat that affects your body.

Here are a few tips

1. Don’t eat anything that is white. Name every single food that is white and chances are you shouldn’t be eating it: bread, pasta, crackers, most cereals, flour based products, white potatoes, white rice, and pasteurized dairy and cheese are all no-no’s during this time.

2. Only drink water, NOTHING else!

3. Don’t eat anything with the word wheat in the ingredients list. What if it’s whole wheat? Look, if the word starts with W and ends in T and has the letters h e a in between, you can’t eat it. This includes bread, pasta, crackers and cereal. Many packaged snack foods also contain wheat so be sure to read the ingredients list carefully.

Good Luck

cheers
