i’m eating plain meat such as …chicken breast , turkey breast fish ( but mostly chicken breast)
vegetable , and egg whites … i combine these things …. i drink alot of water , some coffee and tea ,,, from fruits i eat tangerines and apples……and everyday i eat around approximately 5-8 cookies ( they are small btw :) ….as a treat) ….

oh and its too cold outside for jogging and stuff…. so im doing 50 pushups and 100 crunches …. any tips for workout in apartment?

thanx for responses in advance :)

enyoy!

i

Answer: the chicken/ turkey/ fish is good, vegies- good, egg white- good, but consider the yolk, it will give more protein, water- good, straight black coffee is best- limit your dairy, as a lot of it is fattening, tea- good, but again with the dairy, and watch the amount of sugar you put in, fruits- again good, watch the cookies, as although they are small, eaten in vast quantities can reverse even the strictest of diets!
the workouts good, just maybe get a yoga mat and stretch out your muscles in the morning, do a few more exercises, because doing it in the morning will kick start your metabolism and get it to burn calories faster throughout the day.
hope this helps!

Diet Plans or Tips for a 14 Year Old?

This week’s question is a good one. Let’s have a look:

Question: ok so im aiming to lose at least 20 pounds by christmas. i already have the exercises plan and all but now i need to know what i should eat.So if any one can give me any plans on what i should and should not eat, because some one told me that i have to give up all my tasty foods but i thought that i can still have them but i just have to control how much i eat.
Answer: Snacks to stay away from include chips (even the ones that look healthy), cookies and candy bars. They pack a ton of calories and still leave you feeling hungry.
Eat Lunch
4. Make yourself a killer sandwich with whole-grain bread and lean meat such as chicken, turkey or tuna. (If you’re having tuna, go with a mix that has very little mayonnaise.) Dress it with all the vegetables you can find–lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, olives–and top it off with mustard or hummus. Another piece of fruit, some raisins or almonds, or a low-fat yogurt all make for a great dessert.

Foods to avoid at lunch, especially if you’re eating at a cafeteria, include french fries, pizza, chicken nuggets and nachos. These foods are OK once in a while, but eating them every day will make you gain weight and feel sluggish.

If you’re headed off-campus for lunch, stay away from the burger chains and opt for a sandwich shop instead.
Eat Another Snack
5. Between lunch and dinner, eat another snack, such as a bag of carrots or light popcorn. Eating small meals throughout the day is much better for you than starving yourself and eating once or twice a day. It helps your body burn calories at a healthy rate (this process is called metabolism.)
Drink Lots of Water
6. Staying hydrated is a big part of a healthy diet, especially if you play sports. But even if you don’t, you’ll find that drinking water can keep you from feeling hungry. The human body often mistakes hunger for thirst, so if you stay hydrated, some of your hunger pangs may go away. Also, drinking water regularly helps you keep your metabolism healthy.

It is possible, though, to drink too much water. A good goal is to drink so that you never feel thirsty. If you’re thirsty, you’re already dehydrated.
Stay Busy
7. Keep yourself entertained. People overeat not because they’re hungry, but because they’re bored. For teenagers, life can get pretty boring–especially after school. Playing sports not only gives you the exercise you need, it also keeps you busy. If you don’t like sports, play an instrument, join a club or find some other healthy way to engage in things that interest you.
Do Not Fear Food
8. Remember through all of this that eating does not make you fat–eating too much bad food makes you fat. Food is good for you, and it’s something you should enjoy. As long as you eat lots of fruits and vegetables, cut back on sugar, and lay off on fried foods, fatty foods, and things like cookies, pizza and chips, you’re good to go.
If You’re a Vegetarian
9. Many girls choose during their teenage years not to eat meat. It is possible to have a healthy vegetarian diet, but you need to be careful that you’re getting enough protein. Good sources of protein include eggs (especially egg whites), edamame (a cool Japanese vegetable that you pop out of pods) and tofu (which can take on the flavor of anything you cook with it.)
No Drinking
10. There are lots of reasons teenage girls should not drink–it’s illegal and can lead to a whole lot of other trouble. But if you need more motivation than that, keep this in mind: Drinking kills every diet. Alcohol is full of calories (especially the sweet drinks that many girls like), and here’s the worst part: When you drink, your body stops burning fat until it goes through all the calories from the alcohol.

Any Tips on Lemon Detox Diet?

Another diet tips question has come in this week. Let’s tackle it straight away:

Question: hi im going to start the lemon detox diet tomorrow! im just wondering has anyone tried this before?? for how long? and how much weight did you loose all together?? were you still able to work out whilst doing diet :) thanks.
Answer: I assume you’re talking about the MasterClense diet? The Lemon Juice, Cayenne Pepper and maple syrup mixture that you drink throughout the day?

Then there is the part where you down a bunch of salt water and you have a giant bowel movement within 30 minutes.

I did it. It wasn’t hard or awful. But after the 5th day you start to shake. I lost 4lbs, did NOT keep it off, and here are the things they don’t tell you about this fast (or, if you’re determined to still do it, what you should expect).

1. The juice isnt awful. But it contains nothing good for your body to actually stimlate any clense. You’re better off doing a juice clense because it contains more vitamins your body will need to function properly (hence, the weakness and shakes that start to happen around day 5).

2. The salt water chugging will only make you sh*t if you dont puke first. Its so awful. By day two you will want to cry just thinking about it.

3. the weight you lose is from being improperly hydrated, i.e.: water weight. and you will not keep it off, no matter who you are. Its a crash diet meant to make you look good for a few nights, so unless you’re going to the oscars, its pretty much torture on your body.

:) good luck. but again, I think it was the biggest waste of time ever. I was only able to do it for 8 days. I honestly think i could have kept going longer with the juice, but the salt water chug brought me to tears. Its completely psychologically torturous. You will actually argue with yourself to keep going on.

Anyone Have Any Good Tips/suggestions on How to Get More Vegetables in My Diet?

I just love answering these diet tips questions. Here’s another:

Question: I’ve been a vegetarian for almost 4 years now, and a few days ago I recorded everything I ate for a week to see what I was eating too much of and what I’m not getting enough of. Oddly, I noticed it wasn’t protein I was lacking it was actually vegetables. Haha.(: I like vegetables (with the exception of mushrooms and eggplant!) and I’m open to trying new ones. I really would like to start eating more veggies so I guess what I’m asking is for recipes, or suggestions of good veggies that would be for 14 year old girls to eat!(: Thanks!:)
Answer: Hi Shelby

I don’t think V-8 fusion is a good substitute for actual vegetables although it may contain vegetables. V-8 fusion taste good but the downside to it is that is has sugar in it. The only way to get more vegetables in your diet is to buy it and eat it. I have been vegetarian for about 20 years now and I get more than my share. And who says you can’t drink your vegetables. Kim G is also wrong about that. I juice all the time. I drink juice by day and raw by night. My favorite vegetables to buy when I go shopping are: califlower, carrots, broccoli blend. You can buy frozen or you can buy fresh and mix the three. I used to buy the frozen bag of mixed vegetables which contain corn, peas and carrots and sometimes green lima but for some reason my body wasn’t digesting it well. I buy fresh or frozen spinach. I discovered that I like asparagus which is very nutritious. You will notice that your urine will have a strong scent, though. That should not stop you from eating asparagus. I love collard, mustard, kale greens. You can buy separate or get a blend of it in the frozen foods. When you get older, your taste buds for egg plant will change. I didn’t like it either but I love it now. You can eat any of the butternut squash -baked, delicious. I don’t particularly care for okra which is highly nutritious but I learned how to make a soup with it and I am a fan now. If you eat salads, you need to buy green leafy lettuces. My goodness, there is such a wide selection of vegetables to choose from that have nutritional value that you can buy. It isn’t about eating vegetables for a 14 year old. It is about getting what your body need in order to be healthy. Good luck in your vegetarian diet.

PLZ HELP Diet Tips??

What’s this week’s diet tips question? Let’s dive straight in…

Question: easy diet tips such as DONT EATs and YES EATs and how to control portions and how to satisfy hunger and how to stop cravings, etc. thank you!!
trying to lose 3-5 lbs in a week. thanks!!
Answer: - Do NOT eat junk food (candy, chips, pop, sugary cereal & drinks, etc), fried food, pre-packaged "food-like substances" (Easy Mac, TV dinners, etc)
- DO eat all fruits & vegs (apples, pears, green beans, red peppers, salad, mushrooms, etc), WHOLE grains (brown rice, wild rice, whole wheat breads, etc), lean protein (nuts and beans, if you eat meat, chicken, fish, and turkey)
- Having block cheese (instead of the single-packaged Kraft types), cottage cheese, and plain organic yogurt is good too. You can sweeten the yogurt with agave syrup, pure maple syrup, or fruit

Eat at regularly scheduled times. Eat LESS. Drink tons of water to keep you more full, keep your system working smoothly, and flush out toxins.
Exercise….this doesn’t have to mean going to a gym. Going on fast-paced walks for half an hour in your neighborhood before school is good enough. Or you can do sports, go on hikes, walk around the mall, walk your dog, etc.

Good luck!!! Being healthy is challenging but it is worth it!!!!

Dieting Help.. is This Healthy? If Not, Can You Give Tips? HELP PLEASE.?

I just love answering these diet tips questions. Here’s another:

Question: My friend and I are dieting and she has this idea: if you drink around 2L of water before bed or at night, it can cancel out the amount you ate during the day and flush out the bad stuff. So, we eat healthy, do some ab workouts at night and drink 2-4L of water at night (don’t really need to work out cause we’re on a soccer team).
Is this bad? Will this work on getting a flatter stomach?
Can you give me any tips for a flatter stomach?
Thanks!
Answer: no amount of water will cancel out what you ate during the day. thankfully, you are eating healthy.

ab workouts will make your stomach muscles stronger and perhaps a bit flatter, but the real way to get a flat stomach is to lose the fat off of it by getting lean via diet. if you’re really interested, try the plan below or one similar.

Need to Gain Weight, Diet Tips?

I just love answering these diet tips questions. Here’s another:

Question: ok so im around 178lbs and im 5 10, this year for wrestling im looking to go 189lbs and be solid, i have barely any fat i bench 265etc. i workout 6 times a day and am currently taking protein and creatine and keep a pretty concistent diet however the weight just wont go past 180 if anyone has some good recomendations on a specific diet they would be well appreciated… also wrestling season is less than 2 months away but i want the weight on atmost 3 months from now.
Answer: Hi dear,
follow these guidelines to gain healthy weight
- Eat nutritious foods that are high in calories. Examples are whole-grain breads, vegetables such as avocados and potatoes, kidney beans, lean red meat, poultry and fish.
- Increase the caloric value of your meals. Add powdered milk to casseroles for added calories, add avocados and olives to sandwiches, add wheat germ to your cereal, add chopped meat to your pasta sauce, and so on.
- Avoid skipping meals. Knowing how to gain weight involves consistent eating. Eat three meals a day and at least two snacks.
- Increase your normal portion size. Take a second scoop of pasta, or add two bananas to your oatmeal.
- Choose higher-calorie foods when given a choice. For example, corn is higher in calories than green beans.
- Relax - excessive fidgeting and restlessness can burn up a lot of calories.
-Add weight lifting to your exercise program. It helps build muscle mass.
- Balance your caloric intake with the number of calories you’re burning. You need to be taking in more than you use up, and you may need to ease up a little on your exercise program.
good luck

Diagnosed W/ Gastroparesis & Celiac Disease..Anyone Have Any Diet Tips?

Another diet tips question has come in this week. Let’s tackle it straight away:

Question: I can’t possibly be alone in this mess..
For some reason, I cant seem to find a shred of dietary info that pertains to both conditions..
The earliest appointment I could get with a dietitian is still weeks away..With so many restrictions,
I dont have a clue where to even begin..Anyone?
@ techie…Thanks for the input, much appreciated. I was able to find a pretty good selection at a local market, but I think I better pick up a second job to afford this celiac condition..GESH!
Sad really…

@sailor..Thanks for the links. You can never have enough good info.. I had done a little homework on celiac. I just wish I could find more info regarding both issues. Unfortunatly..
Gastoparesis unables me to digest raw fruits or veggies..(lettuce incl.)
No beef, pork, any fiberous meats..
No bread or grains..no soy..no fiber..
blah blah blah..
Im bored with focusing on what I CAN’T have..if that makes any sense.

Answer: I had never heard of gastroparesis so looked it up at the mayo clinic website and it doesn’t sound like there is a set diet that will help that condition. Looks more like they treat it on a case by case basis.

Your best bet will be to get your celiac disease completely under control with a gluten free diet as soon as possible. The easiest way to start a gluten free diet is to eat fresh fruits and vegetables, fresh non-processed beef, chicken, fish, pork, eggs and cheese. Add in rice and potatoes for starches. Avoid commercially prepared sauces and gravies until you learn how to read labels or you find ones that say gluten free on the package.

Hopefully as your intestines heal and you can absorb nutrients better, your other condition will clear up.

I am adding some websites that I hope will be of some use to you.
